It’s not an overstatement to suggest that dental implants can change your life. Dental implants are a simple but revolutionary method of securely anchoring your restoration teeth. These new teeth anchored by dental implants will feel, look, and act like your natural teeth!
You should then have the renewed ability to eat all the foods you have always loved. You’ll also have renewed confidence in your smile!
What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are small titanium posts that are inserted into your jaw close to where you have teeth missing. These posts will act as the roots for your new restoration teeth. After the posts are placed and have had time to heal, they will naturally bond with the bone in your jaw.
With these metal posts anchoring your teeth, you’ll have restored function and a strong foundation for your tooth. The implants also stimulate your jaw, similar to the way your natural tooth roots did. This stimulation helps your jaw to stay healthy and can even help preserve your facial structure.
Dental Implants vs. Removable Partial Dentures
Dental implants provide many advantages over removable dentures. They are generally far more convenient and comfortable. Removable dentures can slip or click at odd times. Removable dentures also usually require extra care and adjustments from time to time.
Opting for replacement teeth supported by dental implants can eliminate these inconveniences for a smile that looks and feels natural. You can enjoy replacement teeth that are secure as well as comfortable for your lifestyle.
The Dental Implant Procedure
If you are a good candidate for dental implants, we’ll first bring you in to our office to place the implants in your jawbone. It will then take anywhere from three to six months for your implants to bond with your jawbone.
While they are bonding, we’ll provide you with a set of temporary dentures or crowns. You should eat a diet of mainly soft foods. During this waiting and healing period, we will create your new replacement teeth.
After your implants have bonded to your jawbone, you’ll return to our office, so we can place your restoration teeth. The entire process, including both appointments, should take only about six to eight months.
